A tragic incident unfolded on the early morning of August 7, 2023, when a male individual was found deceased on the Northeast side of town. The San Angelo Police Department (SAPD) swiftly responded to a call reporting a shooting victim on the 600 block of East 34th Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an unconscious male with multiple apparent gunshot wounds lying in the roadway. Despite the immediate response of the San Angelo Fire Department (SAFD), the victim was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
In the wake of this grim discovery, the SAPD's Criminal Investigations Division, Crime Scene Division, and Drone team were summoned to the location to provide assistance. As the preliminary investigation unfolded, the victim was identified as 19-year-old Jacob Hernandez. Authorities have officially classified this incident as a homicide and are actively working to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death.
