New Braunfels Police Department (NBPD) made two noteworthy arrests and confiscated a substantial quantity of illicit substances in separate incidents that occurred late last week. The operations were part of the department's ongoing efforts to curb drug-related activities in the area.
The first incident unfolded on Thursday, July 27th, when vigilant NBPD officers conducted a routine traffic stop along the southbound I-35 frontage road, just before the junction of Hwy 46 South and Loop 337. During the course of the stop, officers unearthed a staggering 865 grams of methamphetamine concealed within the vehicle. The discovery led to the immediate arrest of 56-year-old Reynard Joseph Labostrie Sr., a resident of Austin, Texas. Labostrie was promptly taken into custody and transported to the Comal County Jail, where he now faces charges of Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance under Penalty Group 1, specifically involving quantities equal to or exceeding 400 grams.
The second incident, occurring on July 28th, saw NBPD officers respond to a disturbance reported in the parking lot of an apartment complex located within the 100 block of Engel Road. While addressing the disturbance, officers conducted an investigation that extended to two vehicles present at the scene. This investigation revealed a cache of approximately 4 pounds of marijuana, a substantial sum of approximately $17,000 in cash, and a firearm. The individual associated with these items was identified as 24-year-old Dale Forrest Farnsworth Jr., a resident of New Braunfels. Farnsworth was taken into custody and subsequently transported to the Comal County Jail, where he now faces charges of Possession of Marijuana falling within the range of 4 ounces to 5 pounds.
Authorities have emphasized that both cases remain under intensive investigation, and additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigative process continues.
